IDOC Releases for Kendall Sentences
A Kendall County court can commit a person to IDOC, but the county does not choose the long-term prison. IDOC assigns the institution. Once state commitment occurs, the Kendall jail detail documents the county segment and transfer, while the IDOC profile documents state admission, institution, sentence, status, and public release-related fields.
Release from an IDOC institution is not always final discharge. A person on parole or mandatory supervised release, often shortened to MSR, lives outside the prison while remaining under state supervision and legal custody. Final discharge occurs when the state sentence and supervision end through the proper order. Write the status exactly as the agency displays it.
Search IDOC Kendall Release Status
Use the IDOC Individual in Custody Search. The legacy form accepts a last name or partial format, IDOC number, or birth date in the displayed format. An IDOC number is the best key because names and aliases can produce false matches.
- Search by IDOC number when it is known. Otherwise use the available name or birth-date fields.
- Match identity through birth information, physical data, sentencing county, offenses, and admission details.
- Read current status, parent or current institution, and each parole, release, or discharge label literally.
- Compare the profile with the Kendall Circuit Clerk commitment and sentencing order.
- If the profile is gone after final discharge, use the IDOC archived record route.
The public search is not a permanent database of every discharged person. IDOC states that it covers people currently incarcerated or on parole. Once sentence and parole are complete, the profile may no longer display. A no-result screen can therefore point to final discharge, an identity mismatch, or another limitation. It is not proof by itself.
IDOC Release Fields Explained
Capture the agency's current labels instead of rewriting them as a generic “released” status. Profiles can change, and projected information is not executed information. IDOC says an earned sentence credit award that changes a projected parole date will be reflected online.
| IDOC field | Use |
|---|---|
| IDOC number | Stable state-system identity key |
| Current status/location | Whether the person is incarcerated or in a displayed supervision state |
| Admission and sentence | Start and legal basis of the IDOC custody segment |
| Projected parole/release date | Estimate subject to credit and sentence events |
| Parole/MSR information | Community supervision after institutional release |
| Discharge status | Sentence completion when the public profile supplies it |
A future date may change because credit is awarded or lost, a hold applies, or another sentence event occurs. Do not calculate a person's exit by applying a simple percentage. Illinois credit rules depend on the offense, dates, statutory version, custody credit, and other details.
IDOC Archived Release Records
When a fully discharged person no longer appears, request an archived record. IDOC says a search works best with the complete name, date of birth, approximate year received, institution if known, conviction county, and relevant dates. Ask for existing public admission, actual release, discharge, parent institution, and sentence information. Do not request confidential master-file material.

The Kendall court docket remains useful because it supplies the commitment and sentence from the county case. It does not replace the IDOC operational release record. Pairing the two sources separates the judicial sentence from the date and status maintained by the state custodian.
Kendall Release or State Transfer?
A Kendall booking can end with transfer to IDOC. That event is release from the county jail's custody, but not release from confinement. The Sheriff's actual release disposition or receiving-agency field should lead to IDOC. Searching the county inquiry after state commitment will not show the state prison segment.
Kendall's jail also houses U.S. Marshals Service and other-county detainees. That local detail reinforces the rule: physical departure needs a destination. Follow IDOC only when a court commitment or custody record supports state corrections. Federal and immigration systems use different locators.
IDOC Sentence Credit Limits
Illinois law does not support one universal “85 percent” shortcut. IDOC summarizes statutory service rules of 50, 75, 85, or 100 percent depending on the governing offense and rule. Section 3-6-3 of the Unified Code of Corrections contains offense, conviction-date, and exclusion details. Earned Sentence Credit is discretionary and eligibility does not guarantee an award.
IDOC generally describes earned credit of up to 180 days, subject to statutory conditions and more than 60 days in IDOC. Credit can be lost. Its calculation directives account for custody date, applicable statutory credits, lost or awarded time, and earned program credit, with review controls. County jail sentences require the court order, custody credit, and Sheriff's actual release record instead of an IDOC projected field.
IDOC Facility Directory Evidence
The official IDOC facility directory identifies the institutions that make up the state system and helps confirm the institution named on a profile.

The directory should be used to verify an official institution, not to infer release. The individual profile and archived record carry the person-specific status.
The IDOC public-record request page documents the archived access route when a live profile no longer appears.

That route is the appropriate fallback for an actual state release or discharge record after the public search stops displaying the person.
Verify Kendall State Discharge
A parole or MSR profile establishes release from an institution into state supervision. It does not establish final discharge. For sentence completion, look for the exact IDOC or Prisoner Review Board status and use the archive route if the live profile has dropped away. The IDOC Parole Division manages supervision, while the independent Prisoner Review Board sets conditions and decides specified parole, revocation, and discharge matters.
There is no general public Illinois parolee name directory like the jail roster. Contact the proper parole office with an identifying number and accept lawful limits. For a court probation sentence, contact Kendall Probation and Court Services instead. Probation is ordered by the court and differs from prison release onto parole or MSR.
A registration duty is not proof of prison custody, parole, or discharge. Illinois VINE can supplement IDOC for notifications, but confirm an alert with the agency. An executed record remains stronger than a projected date, notification, registry listing, or name disappearing from search.
IDOC Record Identity Checks
A state record should be tied to the IDOC number whenever possible. Compare the profile with birth information, sentencing county, offense, admission date, and the Kendall case. Physical traits or a photograph may support identity but should not decide it alone. An older discharged record also cannot establish whether a new custody event exists.
If the live profile and court docket seem inconsistent, preserve each label and access date. The court controls its judgment and orders. IDOC controls its admission, institutional status, parole or MSR fields, and discharge record. Ask each office about its own entry instead of forcing the sources into one unsupported status.
